Zink has a mobile tiny mini printer now

You remember how cool were those Polaroid cameras that brought minute ready pictures? They are long forgotten now unfortunately, but i bring you an accessory for your digital camera that has almost the same functionality. We’re talking about a tiny mobile printer from Zink, that is portable and qualitative.

This photographing gadget companion is great, cause it connects to a camera or a mobile phone wirelessly or via an USB cable, and prints high quality 2″ x 3″ photos almost instantly. You can get an idea about how the printer looks from this video.

The mobile printer from Zink brings together nice looks and great functionality

As the officials from Zink state, only a small drop of ink is required to form a picture, cause “images are created when a heated printer head comes into contact with a sheet of specialized paper”. That’s actually a polymer containing three crystalline layers. A special technology involving  temperature variations and pressure points create the pixels of color.

So, this printer has a great autonomy, but it requires special Zink paper, and this is a little expensive (20$ a pack of 100 pieces). It is compatible with all Pictbridge enabled digital cameras and Bluetooth enabled camera phones, and will be available in the late 2007. The prices will be of around 100$ for the standalone printer and around 200$ for a printer with an integrated camera. At this costs, seems like a bargain, if the quality of the printed photo is indeed as stated.
