I believe most of the website owners are aware of the fact how important is it to make a right decision while choosing a web host. However, choosing a web host is not the only thing to be taken care of. Choosing a right hosting plan is equally important.

If you’ve a new site which is not getting much traffic and regular visitors then it is okay to go with a shared hosting account but if you have a growing website which is important to your business then you should think twice before deciding the hosting plan.

Apart from the shared hosting accounts, an individual, organization can opt for a virtual private server or even a dedicated server depending on their website’s bandwidth and disk space requirements.

A virtual private server which is also known as a virtual dedicated server or a virtual server is a method in which a physical server is partitioned into multiple servers such that each one of them is capable of running its own operating system and works independently. On the other hand, a dedicated server hosting is the one in which a client leases an entire server that it not shared with any person. A client has the full control over the operating system, hardware, software and is responsible for server management which includes firewall updates, application updates, performance tuning and many more related tasks.

Now, you’ve some idea about the different hosting plans but the question remains same i.e. which one to go for? Well, virtual private servers are powerful than shared hosting accounts but they are not that flexible when compared to dedicated servers. A vps hosting is for the people who have a growing site which cannot be run on a shared account. A dedicated server is for the people who have a large requirement of bandwidth and disk space and needs full control over the server. A vps web hosting account costs much less when compared to a dedicated server and it can be used successfully for hosting a number of growing websites. You can go for a managed hosting or an unmanaged hosting when going for a virtual private server.

As for the dedicated servers, they are expensive and usually, require someone with good technical know-how in order to maintain the server. If you have some serious requirement of disk space and un-metered bandwidth at a high rate then a dedicated server is your best bet otherwise a vps can be used without any problems.

So, analyze your website’s requirements and decide a right hosting plan by comparing several hosting providers in order to avoid the hassles of downtimes, slow loading and more such problems.
