Introducing its new “multi-parallax†to this upcoming display without the unwanted glasses, Toshiba has developed another competitor to the glasses-free 3D market. This new screen is about 21-inch in size which would also feature HD resolution and 480 nits of brightness.
Hitachi and Nintendo has also been working on the same thing for quite some time now and we have yet to see a fully functional model. Things will get more exciting the 3DS will hit shelves next year along with other rumored and official 3D displays without 3D. Along with the new 3D technology under the screen, it’ll also use this so called “integral imaging†which says to use light field displays to produce better looking images in 3D.
This Toshiba 3D display also promises to reduce eye strain and has a 30 degree horizontal viewing angle. It offers 9 particular viewing angles which are needed to be shot from nine directions. No words yet if ever this display without glasses will hit the shelves some time soon (though there are rumors that it’ll be first released in Japan this fourth quarter), but from the looks of it, it still needs more time to fix some quirks. The technology is still young anyway, but users show interest in it, so there might be a market for this.
