The Oculas, a unique and immersive experienceWe all watched science fiction movies and got a sense of what’s coming in the news hundred years, but what happens when someone wants the future today. This someone is McLaren Applied Technologies and what they’re doing for the past years is called The Oculas, an enclosed environment for work, play and dream.

Initially, The Oculas was a concept from Lee McCormack, a British Designer, and was conceived as a solution that will define in the future new boundaries between work and leisure. The project was taken then by McLaren Applied Technologies, and The Oculas 2.0 is set to be launched this year, with a prototype due to appear in March.

The second version brings a radically modified design, that proves devotion to attention for every detail. The paintwork now features triple coated paint and entering/leaving The Oculas is made trough a gullwing door, a sign that always followed the rich people (remember Mercedes 300SEL and Lamborghini, just to mention some supercars with gullwing design).

Inside The Oculas you are delighted by a special crafted lighting system, with daylight mode and various other settings that will help you adjust lights to best suit your needs. The center piece is the ergonomic seat, which will be always in contact with your body, so you can see why it’s that important for it to be designed properly. Comfort is provided also by the automatic climate control, surround sound and an automated monitor arm.

Various storage spaces allow you to deposit anything from an MP3 player, that will be connected to the main PC of The Oculas, gaming consoles, glasses with vital fluids, aka drinks, in specially designed cup holders and also you can use the foot well storage net for something else that can’t be stored in the aforementioned compartments.

The Oculas is made from GRP/Carbon fibre and weights around 110 kg. Dimensions are 190 x 95 x 170 cm. Other things worth mentioning is the personalisation programme, that will allow customisations in full detail according with buyer’s taste. Price is not specified but you can bet that it will cost a lot more than your usual gaming furniture.

I ♥ it but its way to much for people only billionaires can buy that I’d lower it to at least $20,000
