Sony’s warm up for the PMA photo exhibition, which will took place in Las Vegas (31 Jan - 2 Feb), includes eight new digital cameras along with the already seen catchy Sony Alpha DSLR-A200. However, today is the lucky day for amateurs, because the "jap" company announced only compact cameras (DSC-S780, DSC-S750, DSC-W120, DSC-DSC-W130, DSC-W150, DSC-W170, DSC-T300) and the big lazy fish in DLSR-Like range, DSC-H10.
If you’re a begginer, you may hopefully take a look at the pictures below. The S series represents the entry level, and of course the cameras here are the cheapests. So, if your wallet screams out of its emptiness, these cameras are probably the best choice. The brand new Sony DSC-S780 offers you good quality images only if the shooting takes place in good illumination conditions.

We’re going forward to the Sony W series. These cameras are a little more stuffed with all-purpose amateur functions, including the entertaining "Smile Shutter" technology. Image Stabilization for no-motion-blur photos is also present. For a price of about 300 bucks, you get the sweet cherry Sony DSC-W170, with 10.3 MP and 5x optical zoom.

The Sony DSC-T300 is an ultra-compact camera defined by a slim black (or red) sexy body and a huge touch-sensitive screen on the back. Like the W-130, it has the same sensor. Do I need to say that the rest of the usual Sony cameras functions (IS, Smile Shutter, Face Detection etc.) are in? All of these for only 399 $.

Finally, Sony DSC-H10, for high ranked amateurs, comes with a medium sized cannon for no less than 10x optical zoom. Unfortunately, the senzor is only 1/2.5" - that means no big deal practically, even if the price is pretty nice (300 $). In my opinion, a smart choice is to buy Sony DSC-T300, it looks great and it has better specifications than the DSC-H10, except the optical zoom.

All this cameras will be available gradually, from this end of the month until March.
