After a quiet time in the projector market segment, Sony introduces its first 3D digital projector. The official launch took place at the IFA conference in Berlin previously this month. The projector is part of the high-end Elevated Standard brand and is called the VPL-VW90ES.
The Sony projector is a full-option piece of hardware: it allows full HD 3D viewing at 1080p, the SXRD 240Hz Panel provides a seamless image with virtually no distortions or crosstalk, and the inner processor is capable of turning 2D movies in 3D, with a flick of a button.

This 3d digital projector is using the same technology with the one currently available on the Sony 3D TVs, which means you’ll need glasses to perceive the image correctly. And of course you’ll need 3D content.
If you’re a gamer, then you’re in luck, because the VPL-VW90ES can be connected to your PlayStation and will make your gaming experience all the more fulfilling. All these goodies come at a price, though. The Sony VPL-VW90ES costs $10.000. It will be available in Europe starting November 2010, if you can afford it. If not, do just like me, wait a few months till the 3D trend catches on and more products with lower prices appear on market.
