Samsung plans more sliding cradle phones

Samsung is not only a giant manufacturer that throws punches at everyone, by putting its design team and manufacturing capacities to work, but comes up with many elegant and practical designs, such as the sliding cradle, used first time with YP-K5 MP3 player.

Now Samsung plans to make phones using this principle too and filed two patents.

Even if this radical new design doesn’t add any value when making calls, it proves really good when viewing multiple multimedia clips and watching TV, as you can put the phone on the table and sit comfortably on your chair. Also videoconferencing can benefit from this particular design. My only concern is if the sliding cradle mechanism can last longer that regular slider phones, as mechanical stress can be a big issue here.
