Digital cameras are generally slow evolving products when it comes to adding new functionality over time. A new digital camera pretty much has the same function as a three years old model: it takes pictures, but Ricoh adds now GPS to it’s Caplio 500SE model, to help you remember where you took the last picture.

There is not much to say about Ricoh Caplio 500SE except the fact that this product it targeted to a small market niche, especially for those working in the map making business. That’s why Caplio 500SE can receive multiple streams from other GPS receivers and can transfer files wirelessly via Bluetooth or WiFi. Also, to facilitate outdoor use, Caplio’s 500SE body has a ruggedized construction, that might help maintain it’s functionality in harsh environmental conditions.
