Every gamer is looking for the ultimate gaming experience at a decent price and once you’ve had it, you will certainly want to repeat it, several times… So, what is it what we are looking for? The best gaming mouse (not particularly the most expensive one), but accurate, fast and ergonomic! One of the things we found was the Razer Spectre StarCraft II Gaming Mouse. We thought is interesting as the old mouse shape had disappeared and gone off the market (not for this particular hardware though) and seemed promising. Let’s go deeper into details!
The Razer Spectre StarCraft II Gaming Mouse provides a tracking resolution of maximum 5600 DPI (not so bad after all, the highest DPI value we found was only 100 more dots per inch). Unfortunately, no on-board memory, no macro at the finger tips, but laser technology is there.
The design (which is what attracted our attention in the first place) includes only five programmable buttons. This is the point where we started bickering about the pros and cons, but the main point is: you won’t get lost between lots of buttons wondering which is which, but you won’t have as many options neither as other gaming mices offer. This mouse is quite light-weighted and to some of us the lack of weight settings could be a problem. However, you get an APM lightning system, which is quite a match for the old fashion shape this mouse has and (almost forgot to mention) it is USB powered.

The performance that Razer Spectre StarCraft II Gaming Mouse reaches is somehow …disappointing. First of all, the comfort this mouse offers is not what we had in mind (although Razer usually takes care of the good ergonomics of their mice…), no on-the fly sensitivity change. The good thing is the 1000 Hz Ultrapooling, so with 1 ms delay I would say it is decent, but this is definitely not the nicest mouse around! Other than that, no customizable buttons for net surfing, therefore this is a mouse for gaming and that’s it!

Moneymeter
The price for the Razer Spectre StarCraft II Gaming Mouse is of 52 US dollars. Is it a good deal? Absolutely not! This is just a mouse for games, one of the most expensive ones on the market (considering quality versus price criteria), but that was to be expected since it’s a Limited Edition mouse.
It provides a good DPI value and, let’s say it is fast too, but for that money you can get so much more (such as comfort, better appearance, more customizable options etc.). Although the way this mouse looks like made us feel nostalgic, this is just an example of what people should not buy unless they’re charmed by the design…
