Polaroid. We all know this name, synonym to the great “picture in a minute” cameras that were so popular in the world in the late 90′s. But not so many know that Polaroid has dumped photography domain for a couple of years now, because sales weren’t exactly on the wave for them. In fact they went bankrupt and the only thing that remained about Polaroid was their brand name.
This year at CES, Polaroid comes back into attention with a couple of new gadgets. But this time it’s not about photos anymore, it’s about music. The Americans offer us 3 portable media player devices, suitable for every pocket.
The low-end model, MPA-20011, costs around 100$. For this kind of money, you get 1 GB flash memory for storing music, photos and movies. Besides that, you can use a microSD card for extended storage capacity. It also has a 2.2″ monitor, radio Fm capabilities and an autonomy of around 25 hours.

The Polaroid MPA-28216 attacks the middle class media players market with a 2.8″ crisp LCD monitor, storage space of 30 GB and wireless connectivity. It can play movies in AVI format, besides the usual MPEG4. Having a price of around 280$, it could definitely become a serious rival for the video iPod or for the cheaper Sansa players.

If these gadgets don’t satisfy your high demands, than you should probably choose the Polaroid MPA-43315. Having almost the same specifications as the previous model, it comes in front with it’s bigger 4.3″ touchscreen display and a more spacious 40GB hard drive. All these for 330$.

We know that the iPod is hard to be thrown down from it’s almost unbreakable throne in the media players class, but we are also aware that there are some products out there worth taking a try. And this Polaroid gadgets are definitely some of them.
