The attention everybody gives to mobile devices made producers launch new products, that can barely be catalogued. The best example is the UMPC that it’s not a sub-notebook, even though there are sub-notebooks smaller than some UMPCs (see Sony products). Today we take a look at HTC Athena, a big PDA, but smaller than an UMPC.
Confused? So am I. But let’s not despair. HTC is a well known brand of PDA manufacturer, even though you might have not seen products with this name, because HTC also produces OEM, so everybody can put their own logo for a small price. Their newest addition, Athena, currently sold by T-Mobile under the name Ameo distinguishes itself by a whooping 355 grams (0.7 pounds), much more than your usual PDA.

UMPC, PDA, sub-notebook, nooooot, HTC Athena it’s just a big size PDA
For that you get a 624 MHz Intel Xscale CPU, 8 GB hard drive, 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM, miniSD slot and a 3 megapixel camera. Connectivity is also a strong point, featuring quad-band GSM, UMTS/HSDPA, WiFi 802.11g, Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS. Last but not least we should mention the 5" VGA screen and the QWERTY integrated keyboard that slides under the screen when not used. For me it seems like the ultimate PDA, which I would love to own.

HTC really did a great job with Athena, or Ameo if you buy the T-Mobile version
