Palm, well known for it’s Treo line, announced today the perfect mobile companion, the Foleo. To put it short, it’s a kind of laptop like viewing device that connects to your smartphone, retrieves your email and displays it on its 10 inch screen.
Now you can reply, edit, send and view attachments easily with the help of a full QWERTY keyboard.

For 499 $ it seems a bargain to have a 10 inch laptop with five hours battery life, but remember that Foleo is not a notebook, it uses Palm’s own operating system based on Linux and doesn’t have broadband connectivity (Palm doesn’t tells too much details but from the “connects wirelessly with your smartphone to help you do more on the go” I deduct that you’ll need a Palm smartphone in order to use Foleo).

Foleo also browses web, but so does your ordinary smartphone. The only true advantage Foleo brings is the largest screen and keyboard. That and a two pounds weight to your backpack, so I don’t have to pretend that I’m impressed with Palm Foleo, another product placed between a smartphone and an UMPC, but not as good as any of them.
