Nokia continues to create confusions between mobile phone users by launching the new model from the C5 series that practically has no common features with its brothers. The new model is the Nokia C5-03, a touch screen phone that has medium technical specs and price and offers nothing special compared to other models from the same company or the phones produced by rivals.
The main flaw of the phone is the Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5, operating system which is installed on the phone even if Nokia finished developing this operating system and concentrates on developing the Symbian^3 and accessories for it now.
Here are the main characteristics of the phone:
- 3.2†TFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels
- 600 MHz ARM 11 processor
- 40 MB of internal memory and a 2 GB microSD card included in the package
- Connectivity hardware: 3G (HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 2 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, and microUSB port
- 5 MP camera with a maximum resolution of 2592Ñ…1944 pixels
- GPS with A-GPS support
- Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery
- Size: 105.8 x 51 x 13.8 mm; weight: 93 grams
Design and build characteristics
Nokia C5-03 does not impress by its design as it brings nothing special to the touchscreen segment. The front of the device is dominated by the touchscreen TFT 3.2†display below which 3 physical buttons can be found at a pretty big distance one from the other. The middle button is dedicated to access to the main menu while the lateral buttons are for accepting and denying calls.
The back side hosts a 5 MP camera while the superior side of the phone hosts the microUSB port and the audio jack.
More technical data
As I have mentioned the display is a TFT, 3.2†diagonal screen that offers a resolution of 360×640 pixels. The surf fluency is assured partially by the ARM 11 processor clocked at 600 MHz, while the ROM memory is of 128 MB. In the same time the phone only has 40 MB of internal memory, but the good news is that the package includes a 2 GB microSD card. In addition to this the owner can buy other microSD cards up to 16 GB.

C5-03, another touchscreen smartphone from Nokia
If the phone has medium level technical specs things present themselves much better when it comes to connectivity. The Nokia C5-03 can connect to the internet through 3G (HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 2 Mbps) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. If you need to you can also use GPRS or EDGE technology. Transfer of files can be done through Bluetooth or microUSB.
The photo camera only has a capacity of 5MP and its maximum photo resolution is 2592Ñ…1944 pixels. If you need to you can also record videos but their resolution is VGA, which means the quality will be doubtful. Last but not least it is worth mentioning that a GPS with A-GPS support and Nokia Maps are integrated.
The Li-Ion battery has a capacity of up to 1000 mAh but Nokia says it will offer an autonomy of up to 600 hours in 2G network and a call time of up to 11 hours and a half.
Availability and price
The Nokia C5-03 is already available and it can be found on the internet for about 250 dollars. You can get it from Amazon for 231$.
