Yes, i like concepts. It’s so cool to be able to have a glimpse on the future, and that’s why i keep writing about them. This time, it’s about a series of gadgets that us journalists will find more then interesting.

I call it the modern reporter’s kit, its designer - Benjamin Kuhn, named it Newsware, but this is after all a system of wireless connected digital devices, each simple, useful and breathtaking.

There’s nothing much to say, cause the pictures speak for their own. But the idea around the concept is simplicity. We have 4 different gadgets, each performing a specific task. That’s kind of weird, considering the actual tendency of stuffing as many functions as possible in a gadget. But anyway, maybe that will pass someday. Like i said, the Newsware kit contains 4 pieces:

  • a tiny high resolution digital camera that shoots both video and pictures
  • an interesting thing, that looks like a baguette, called VoiceStick, used for recording sound
  • soft keypad for easy data input
  • and the masterpiece, the NotePad. This one is double sided touchscreen display, that can provide all the applications needed by an active reporter and also gathers and processes the data collected by the other 3 gadgets.

All these connect wireless with each other, and I wasn’t expecting nothing less from it. I guess the NotePad will also have Wireless Internet access, so the article will reach your Boss nice and easy. And you won’t have to set foot in the office ever again. That must be heaven for a field reporter. Anyway, I leave you with the pictures of the Newsware, hoping that such a device won’t stay concept too long
