Mouse Mat Pad brings Formula One on your desk

Mouse Mat Pad brings Formula One on your desk

We all know that Formula One is a sport for gentlemen, but we also know it means grandeur and very fancy equipments. I was kind of amazed a couple of days ago, when i was surfing on the Official Formula one store, to find a PC accessory called the Mouse Mat.

It’s actually a mouse pad, you know, that small piece of material you put under your mouse so it works better. But this one is special. First of all, the Mouse Mat is made out of polished carbon fibre. Actually, it’s hand made by the same specialist composite technicians who develop Formula One cars monocoques. Well, that’s impressing. And the result looks astonishingly.

Unfortunately, this pad embossed with the F1 Formula 1 logo, only works with ball mouses. That’s crap. Who uses ball mouses anymore in the 21st century? So, if it lacks utility, you would expect it to be cheap. No way, you couldn’t be more wrong. It costs 490$.

The Formula One store offers us a solution for our optical mouses too, but it’s a little more expensive: 512$. It’s a leather covered version of the Mouse Mat, that has of course a thin cover of leather on it’s front face. It doesn’t look so cool as the cheaper model, but at least you can use it for something…

I’m wondering if Bernie Ecclestone or Michael Schumacher use Mouse Mats on their computers. I guess they don’t, but this things still are cool and the gamer mouse on your desk would make a perfect pear with one of them.
