Moun – the ultimate sound system
Ross Lovegrove, the famous designer, has been working with the KEF company from UK, in order to create the ultimate sound system. Their aim was to achieve a futuristic and unique design combined with outstanding audition quality, and the result was Moun.
The name comes from Physics, cause a "moun" is a particle charged with electricity. For more details read this article here. On the other hand, like you can see from the provided link, the "moun" was originally called "mu moun". And the term "Mu", in Japanese, is related to Zen Buddhism. It means "none" and it is used to reply to a question that cannot be answered.
What is the question in this case? Well, i guess :"Is there any better sound system on Earth?" does the job. Cause Moun is an exquisite example of engineering and design. Technologically, the Moun has a four-way speaker system, containing a powerful bass chamber, but also midrange and treble units. Key technologies from KEF have been integrated in the system, like the Acoustic Compliance Enhancement, which enables the Moun to effectively double the available volume through adsorption of air molecules on activated carbon, or ‘magic dust’.

It is known that the British company has been involved in aeronautics in the past. That could explain the bizarre aluminium moulded body, standing 2 meters tall. The form of the speaker merges the aesthetic elements with a perfect sound Physic on the inside, and to build it a latest generation cutting machine was paired with a powerful computer, to calculate and eliminate any flaw.
The result of the joint forces of KEF and Lovegrove will be exposed this month during the ‘FUORI’ Salone del Mobile di Milano. This way, Sala del Cenacolo in the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia will be a special place for the history to meet the future. Ross Lovegrove will be in charge of the unveiling gala also, and he’s planing to create a marvelous light and sound show, worthy of what is perhaps the most advanced audio system ever conceived, the Moun.
