Mitsubishi announced at CEDIA 2010, Atlanta this week the official lauch of two new digital projectors, one of them supporting 3D. Mitsubishi’s main goal was to get two low-priced home-theater projectors on the market.
The HC 4000 is trumpeted by the producers to be especially good value. It has a Texas Instruments 1080p DLP chip, the DarkChip 3 with BrilliantColor and can provide up to 1,300 lumens at 750:1 contrast ratio. Watching 2.35:1 or 16:9 aspect ratios is easy thanks to a separate anamorphic lens the users can attach to the front of the projector. The device produces very little noise – 25 dB, and it weighs about 8 pounds.

The HC4000 does not support 3D, is priced at $1,495 and is available immediately.
There is also an upscale 3D digital projector lauched by Mitsubishi alongside the HC4000. The Diamond 3 has an optical engine coming from Sony – the SXRD – and employs a wide arrange of gizmos to make sure your viewing experience is top notch. Among them, it employs high contrast (120,000:1), extra-low dispersation glass for sharp clear images, an auto-iris function and a separate management function to adjust color intensity individually.
The Diamond 3 comes with HDMI and RS232 support. This 3D digital projector is not on the market, and Mitsubishi have yet to announce its selling price. Seeing other 3D projectors priced we must expect a high price for the Mitsubishi HC4000 3D projector.
