We can all agree that the control interface of today is the mouse and keyboard combination and tomorrow that we’ll use most likely is a touchscreen based interface. Microsoft, both loved and hated by many people, makes a huge leap forward and presents Surface, a technology which uses a blend of touchscreen interface, home integrated surveillance and wireless transfer to facilitate user interaction.

Surface is not a technology showcase, but a living and breathing product. The main part is a 30 inch multi-touch, multi-user interface placed on a regular coffee table. The table is capable of recognizing objects placed on it, allowing easy interaction between them, like moving pictures from a digital camera to a phone, after making some adjustments to the picture.
Objects are being recognized with help from several surveillance cameras strategically placed around the Surface table. If you’re rich enough you can order Surface for around 10.000 $, or you can play with this year in T-Mobile stores, Starwood and Harrah hotel in Las Vegas. Below there are some clips which show how Surface interface works and also explain how the system in built.
