Me Mo, a concept meant to become reality

The Me Mo is just a concept now, but a very interesting one. Combining the capabilities of a mobile phone, digital photo camera, portable media player and GPS unit in one modular gadget, completed with some unique looks, might be a recipe for success, don’t you think?

The Me Mo has a Central Processing Unit that coordinates the activity of the entire device. You can connect to it some helping devices, to increase the performances and capabilities, like a mobile phone, full QWERTY keyboard, MP3 or video player, GPS device, digital camera, and so on. By combining these accessories you can obtain various brilliant functions. For example, if you have a digital camera and a GPS unit, the last one can show you on the map the position where you have taken a pic. Or you can connect a GPS position with a contact in your Phone Book, so you’ll know exactly where does that person live. Pretty cool.

There are other gadgets on the market that have the technical capabilities of the Me Mo, of course, but none are modular. Inconvenient like high acquisition price and considerable size are eliminated by the Me Mo concept. You can buy your components one at a time, and connect to the central unit only the ones that you need, without having to carry all the others around.

The creator of the Me Mo is Peter Norberg, a famous designer, and that’s why this concept scores great marks on aesthetics. The exterior is made from common materials, like leather and denim, making the Me Mo easy to assort with your clothes. And women do care about that. More, the clamping way of the components is brilliant: the device uses fasteners. I’m curios how do the parts connect to each other electronically through this fasteners though…

The Me Mo is definitely a concept that will be seen in the shops in the future. Maybe not in this form, but modularity is a solution for portable devices, and the producers know it. As a strange fact, you can see on the picture the ASUS logo, on the central unit of the Me Mo. But this concept belongs to Peter Norberg… It’s strange, but it won’t surprise anyone if the Taiwanese stick their tale into this, as we know that they do love innovation..
