Marantz SA-7S1 says: Gold plated sucks, people need solid gold
It seems that there are always people that don’t step back if they have to pay a fortune for a luxury object. People that won’t say no to a solid gold CD player, like the Marantz SA-7S1, a 22 kilos of state of the art engineering, or so they say. For 10.000 $ it doesn’t seem a lot, but I don’t be fooled by the "solid gold" statement as only some parts are made using the precious metal.

If Gold is not your thing, maybe you can order a Platinum version
It seems that Martantz SA-7S1 has only the front panel made of gold, and some other components, responsible for the quality of the audition. I don’t want to get into details about the D/A converters, each with four separate processors, for DSD and 24 bit PCM, the HDAMs and the short circuit topology, that facilitates the best possible sonic performance, but I’ve said it. I’m not a audiophile, but Marantz SA-7S1 surely gained my heart. Unfortunately it hasn’t gained my wallet.
