Logitech MX518 optical wired gaming mouse review

Being a passionate gamer is difficult! Not only should you one be talented, but the right gear is an absolute requirement! The precision needed to hit a certain target, the time of response, these features are of the mouse, the best mouse for gaming, which is what we’re looking for!

Logitech MX518 gaming mouse, for instance, is such a pointing device, performing on an optical engine that goes up to 1800 DPI; not bad for a mouse that’s essentially a few years old. What I find nice about this accessory is the metal housing (metal like to be precise) that gives it a completely different look, one that’s very much lover or hate. Personally I love it. Aside from the metal like ‘jacket’, both sides are covered with a thin layer of rubber, so it’s comfortable as well and grips well to big sweaty hands.

Approaching more seriously the design, we ought to mention the eight programmable buttons, the DPI switch (from 400 to 1800). The producers have even thought about the small rubber feet and have designed for the Logitech MX518 gaming mouse special ones with reduced noise and friction. This is a very surprising detail. Having thought about the length of the feet, they omitted to introduce weight settings… Of course, right hand shaped (just like most accessories of it’s type), this mouse is also wired and that might cut lose some of the freedom one enjoys when playing games. But where it lacks in mobility it gains in precision and reaction times.

If we take it down to the performance chapter…well, the mouse does do its thing when it comes to games, but not just that. The Logitech MX518 gaming mouse is also excellent for web surfing, it has two small buttons on the left side that can be used paging backwards and forward, but no turbo scroll (it would’ve been a significant improvement). Other than that it is created for small or regular hands, therefore all buttons are easy to reach and click. And it feels nice too, the tactile feel you get when using this mouse is quite a sensation…

Who is this mouse for? Definitely for gaming (it is pretty accurate), but that doesn’t take its credit when it comes to web browsing, which it makes easier.

The price for Logitech MX518 gaming mouse is close to 56 US dollars. The mouse it’s a very interesting one, so I would call it a good purchase, but is it the best gaming mouse? No, will definitely keep searching …

I love the shape of the Logitech MX 518. It feels great in hand
