LG KE850 wears Prada [Updated]
The LG KE850 Prada is finally here. And it looks absolutely awesome. But of course, what else could have come from the joint forces of LG Electronics, a big name in the mobile phones world, and Prada, one of the world’s leading brands in luxury goods industry?
LG officials state that the Prada is the first completely touch screen mobile phone. I’m not so sure it’s exactly the first one, cause there’s also the Apple iPhone in the equation, but it’s definitely one of the first. This device impresses also with an unique, cool and sophisticated look. Prada’s part in this deal was not strictly about exterior aesthetics (which is great, but i already told you that), because they also influenced the interface design, the phones accessories (starring with a special leather case), and some of the preloaded content.

LG KE850 Prada looks like a definite winner
The touchscreen interface is really interesting, cause it completely eliminates the classic keypad. The KE850 Prada’s menu is very simple, and the producers designed it in black and white. I can’t really imagine how nice is that, but i will trust the Italians hand in this too. The phone is ultra thin, having just 12 mm, and has a wide 3.0" display with 240 x 400 pixels resolution, that allows the users to use the integrated video and music player, to fully benefit from the document viewer capability or to take great pictures with the 2.0 camera equipped with Schneider-Kreuznach lens.
The LG Prada mobile phone is certainly addressed to an upper class client, while it’s main competitor for now, the Apple iPhone, has a larger area of customers. The competition between them will be fierce, the second one being better equipped and cheaper, with the Prada having behind a name and an incredible design.
From February we’ll find the KE850 in Prada’s stores in Western Europe, at a price starting from 600 euros. Yes, that’s not cheap indeed, but we’re talking about a luxury accessory. Later this year the phone will be available in Asia too, but unfortunately we won’t be seeing it in the US soon, because it simply wasn’t designed to work there. And that’s because the LG Prada is limited to tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900. Why? Well, beats me. But i guess things will be changed with a future updated model soon.

[...] TAG Heuer it’s not the first luxury big name that joins cellphone manufacturer, actually it’s not even in Top 5 if you count D&G, Prada, Aston Martin, McLaren, Swarovski and others. But what’s with this crazy new idea? Well, I’ll try to sum it up in a few words: take one regular phone, write up a big brand name on it, throw some custom ring-tones and wallpapers in equation, and the price skyrockets, along with product margins.
