If you ever felt attracted by the UMPC concept and followed our news about those products you might know we always complain about price. But not things changed, as Samsung released today the Q1 Ultra, which starts from 799 $, a very affordable price point for budget users.
The lower model, the one that you can get for only 799 $, has a very respectable Intel Ultra Mobile Processor A100 600 MHz CPU, 1 GB DDR2 400 MHz RAM a 40 GB hard drive and the same 7" WSVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) LED backlit LCD screen. The standard battery is supposed to last around 4.5 hours, but I wouldn’t trust what they say in the press release and I would go for the 6-cell or 8-cell extended battery.

Samsung Q1 Ultra isn’t a beauty by my taste, but surely I won’t spend 4000+ $ for a Sony UMPC
If you want something better you can go for the A100 CPU rated for 800 MHz, a 80 GB hard drive or 32 GB SSD, HSDPA cellular modem, but you’ll have to wait till August and spend up to 1999 $ for the upgraded specs. Anyway the QU1-EL Entry is a very good bargain, as there are some PDA Phones on the market that core way more that this UMPC and offer far less functions in similar dimensions.

The rear camera has only 1.3 megapixels, but I don’t see myself taking pictures with a UMPC
