Huawei S7 Slim: the cheap Android tablet

Huawei is a Chinese company which is less well known in Europe and the US in the domain of electronic gadgets, especially because it starting building such gadgets only from the last year. One of the gadgets was the S7 tablet which has recently received a successor in February at the Mobile World Congress: the S7 Slim.

Even if we are talking about a 100% Made in China product we should not forget that most electronic gadgets are made in China, so I believe it is worth taking a look at the S7 Slim.

Build and design characteristics

Huawei S7 Slim represents a significant improvement compared to the original chubby version from the point of view of its aspect. The black case has become a lot more elegant, and the 3 discretely placed buttons on the right side of the device that correspond to the back, menu and home functions highlight this elegance. Surprisingly or not the tablet also includes a pair of speakers for listening to MP3 music or the radio, as the tablet also has a FM radio with RDS.

Technical specs

As it is characteristic for a Chinese product the technical specs of the Huawei S7 Slim are not yet completely known. We do know that the TFT capacitive touchscreen has a 7 inch diagonal and offers a typical resolution of 800×400 pixels.

Unfortunately we do not have any information about the processor and the internal memory, which are probably very limited. Do not expect extraordinary performances. The microSD slot card ensures a boost of internal storage space. This means you probably won’t end up running out of space.

Connectivity is great on this device at all chapters. All modern technologies are available: 3G, Wi-Fi and the slower GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA, which are usually found on mobile phones. It is also worth mentioning that the device has Bluetooth 2.1 incorporated and a microUSB port.

The camera only has 3.2 MP, but Huawei claim it can be used to record HD clips. The operating system is the Google Android 2.2 Froyo, even if the 2.3 Gingerbread version has already been launched.

Availability and price

Details about the availability and price of the product are still very limited. However, since we are speaking about a Chinese product we estimate that potential clients will not have to wait too much until the product will be released. The price of the Huawei S7 Slim is estimated to be somewhere just under 300 dollars, but no official confirmation has been yet given.
