FLIP Ship can’t sink

FLIP Ship can’t sink

I was always amazed how ships can float horizontally without any problems, and even riding high waves.

I know a little physics, but the feeling it’s still there. Now what do you say about a boat that also floats vertically? It’s called FLIP from Floating Instrument Platform and it’s a research vessel.

What makes it special is its ability to float at a 90 ° angle from sea level. This way, researchers can study better the underwater ocean life. If you wonder how people inside the ship react when FLIP is flipped you must know that the crew cabin is made in such way to flip together with the whole ship. The video below shows how it works.
