EDAG takes SUV to LUV levelLike in IT, automotive industry sees new types of products every year, products that try to occupy a free market segment or try to create one. LUV (Luxury Utility Vehicle) might be the next big thing, one level over SUVs (Sport Utility Vechicls), that, at their turn, are derived from regular off-road vehicles. EDAG is the LUV concept, the car that will give rich people the comfort they already have in their homes.

EDAG LUV will be presented at Geneva show and features a maritime look, with wooden hood, cargo area and flooring of the interior. Even if EDAG looks like an American truck it has plenty of room for 5 passengers and features enough electronics, the part that interests us most. So, to begin with, EDAG integrates two UMPCs in the headrests of front row seats, so they’re for rear row passengers. Internet access is provided via WLAN and UMTS, add webcams to that, and you have a real mobile office, which you can use on the road. Integration goes even further, with DVD movies collection or MP3 playlists being available trough the audio system, so everything is connected.

EDAG is not only packed with consumer gadgets but also is a car, so let’s see a short list of specs here: 6.1 litres engine with 462 HP, engineered by Brabus, a well known Mercedes Benz tuner, 0 – 60 time is arround 6 seconds, 22 " monoblock S wheels with 295/35 Yokohama tires, 380 x 36 mm front ventilated break disks. I don’t think you’ll drive this to the limit, but EDAG can handle that with ease, no doubt about it.
