DiRT 3 – the highly expected rally game

DiRT 3 – the highly expected rally game

By: Ionut Popa  In: Games and consoles  Updated: Dec 3, 2011

After Colin McRae: DiRT was launched at the end of 2007 and DiRT 2 in 2009 Codemasters has decided that next year a new game in this series will appear. Taking in consideration the fact that Dirt 3 was announced in 2010 but will only appear in 2011 we lack information about the product and know few details about it.

On the internet you will only be able to find a few images from the new game and a trailer which you can also see below. DiRT 3 will be created with the help of the EGO graphic engine that was also used by Codemasters for the F1 2010 game. In addition to recent editions the game will offer rally fans over 50 rally cars. The number of cars will be double compared to DiRT 2.

Codemasters engineers promise a lot of hours of mud, sweat and adrenaline during the races that will take place in Africa, Europe and North America. The star that will represent the game will still be Ken Block. The famous driver will replace the old Subaru Impreza WRX with the Ford Fiesta with this occasion.

A new feature of DiRT 3, is represented by the Gymkhana driving style, a similar style to the offensive one practiced by Ken Block in his videos. The game is highly expected by rally fans, and it will be available next year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. Later the PC version will also be released. And as you probably have already figured out the producer has not announced an official launch date yet.

System requirements:

  • Intel Core i3-530 2.9 GHz processor or AMD Phenom II X4 905e processor,
  • GeForce 8800GTS 512MB or Radeon HD 4770 512MB video cared,
  • 3GB of RAM system memory,
  • 10GB of free storage space.

I have to say that the producer has not offered any official info yet on this subject so the requirements presented above are unofficial and pure speculations. Anyway it is obvious that DiRT 3 will not be a game that will run on any computer.

Conclusions

It is hard for me to come up with a conclusion about DiRT3. Even if the first two titles were well appreciated by the public it seems that gamers accuse Codemasters that they distanced themselves to much from the origins and realism offered by the Colin McRae game in favor of an American show with Ken Block and Gymkhana sessions.

I think it would only be fair to wait for the official launch of the game and come back then with more objective opinions. Until then I invite you to find out the latest news about DiRT 3 from the Facebook and Twitter pages of the game.
