These two words are the best ones to describe the ASUS UX31 Ultrabook from the Zenbook series (ASUS UX21 is the other model). The basic concept of the ultrabook is a computer with reduced dimensions and weight, in order to increase portability. Other important features should be the longer battery life and the energy consumption, for the same reason. The predecessor of the ultrabook trend, already set is most certainly, the MacBook Air, but Apple’s competitors have begun delivering successful alternatives, however with an important bonus: they are cheaper. Such an alternative is the ASUS UX31 Zenbook. Keep on reading and see why!
The ASUS UX31 Ultrabook is part of the Zenbook series laptops and is powered by a second generation Intel i5 processor (2557 M). The information is stored on a solid state drive SATA 128 GB and it uses a six cell battery (which is 25 % more efficient) and it comes with a pre- installed Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
In terms of design, the ASUS UX31 Ultrabook is very much similar to its predecessor. Incased in an aluminum shell and weighting about one kilogram, this ultraportable laptop has a 13.3 inches display and a better connectivity (comparing with the other PCs of its kind). A built in camera (0.3 megapixels) and microphone, three USB ports (2.0, 3.0 and 4.0), a micro HDMI hub, a card reader (SD), a mini VGA port, Wi-Fi and no Ethernet, unfortunately (but a USB to Ethernet dongle is provided).

ASUS UX31 Zenbook: better than the MacBook Air
The performance this particular ultrabook can reach are quite interesting! The connectivity aspect looks good, the processor is quite powerful. Add to that the HD+ resolution (1600 x 900 px) and stereo sound, so things don’t look bad at all! All these said, this is a much better alternative to most ultrabooks, even for the MacBook Air; and the price is pretty competitive! And I can’t stress this enough: more pixels on the screen mean more windows visible at the same time, which translates in mode detail and ultimately productivity.
Should you buy it? Yes, if you are in the permanent need of a PC! Carrying a laptop most of the time with you can give your back a hard time, but for persons like you (whether you are a business man/woman or a student) ultrabooks have been designed and this particular one is both fun and powerful (again, comparing to other PCs of its size and weight)! And battery life is excellent, coming at a little bit under 6 hours away from the plug, enough to get a day’s worth of work (if you work less, like me :)).

ASUS UX31 Ultrabook: excellent finish quality
Moneymeter
The price of theASUS UX31 Ultrabook is around 1.100 US dollars (on the Amazon, com , however prices should be similar in stores – there’s also a more expensive version with a Core i7 CPU and a larger 256 GB HDD). Do you get the best ultrabook for this kind of money? The best, compared to all standard models that one can buy for this amount. So, I would call it a good deal!
And this is an unboxing and hands on with ASUS UX31 Zenbook ultrabook:

Useless keyboard ! 9,9 in all aspects, BIG ZERO for the keyboard.
