Most of us have already heard of the new, improved, better looking mini desktop, which is the ‘’nettop’’. The desktop type pc is not dead even if some (including myself) are astonished: it has evolved. The once considerably large dimensions are now they are considerably reduced; the energy consumption was quite big, now it is at least ten times smaller. Most of us would agree that so far so good, but the nettop’s plague is the next one: it is completely incapable of dealing with resource consuming or complex applications (definitely, not for gaming). However it deals perfectly with document processing and web based applications and it is attachable to you big HDTV!
Anyway, we took a look and we found the ASUS Eee Box nettop pc EB1012P as being quite interesting. Let’s just a little more profoundly into details!
The ASUS Eee Box EB1012P nettop pc comes with 2GB DDR2 RAM and a 320GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM), quite fine, I’d say! The processor is Intel Atom D510 Dual Core Processor (1.66GHz), which is again wonderful considering you won’t be gaming on this thing. The graphics front will be taken care of by the NVIDIA ION(GT218-ION) Graphics with 512MB dedicated VRAM and something tells me it’s not bad at all, especially for Full HD playback!
This specific mini computer comes with Windows 7 pre-installed (not as great because some might like XP or another operating system better and because a pre-installed OS is more expensive overall, driving the price of the nettop higher than it should be).
Connectivity is no problem for the ASUS Eee Box EB1012P nettop pc. The nettop pc provides Wi-Fi and Ethernet, six USB ports (three 3.0 and four 2.0), an HDMI port, VESA mounting, microphone input, smart card reader (MS, MS PRO, XP, SD) and VGA.
Just like any other nettop, the ASUS Eee Box nettop pc streams very well music and movies and offers good technical details. Therefore, if we were to make a top five list of the best nettops, this particular one would be in it! It is suitable for persons who do have a job at home or just want the best that technology can bring in matter of entertainment!
I spoked previously of a plague that nettops generally have (can’t run complex apps), well this one has a bigger one: the price. The ASUS Eee Box nettop pc can be bought for around 360 US dollars, which is a lot! Good technical features indeed, but if performance is not your first goat this isn’t the best deal (from my point of view)! Nettops from the competition have on offer similar products for less money. But look at the bright side, you get a mouse and a keyboard included in the retail box!
