ASUS Black Diamond RT-N56U review: a sleek looking gaming router

ASUS Black Diamond RT-N56U review: a sleek looking gaming router

Games are not what they used to be. They have changed. They became more complex, more intriguing, they got better. Which is why, in order to play the game and get the highest scores, a regular PC and the usual hardware is no longer enough! You need a powerful computer, specially designed hardware for gaming (and that doesn’t come cheap) and a thunder of internet connection. Fast internet connection gets off your back the lag trouble (and others that are very common these days) and that is the central theme of this article.

A solution to that problem could be the ASUS (RT-N56U) Black Diamond Gaming Router. Part of the (quite necessary) accessories for games, this is a specially designed router for games, follow the lines carefully below and see if it could represent a solution for you!

The ASUS (RT-N56U) Black Diamond Gaming Router provides a dual band wireless internet (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz), four Ethernet hubs and two 2.0 USB ports. The design of this particular router is something one can see it was given a lot of thought. Very shiny and somehow slim, the router seems to be a match for the beauty meant to kill the beast!

In terms of performances, well here there are lots of things to tell! The wireless internet speed (available for both frequencies) goes up to 300 Mbps data rate, the wired performance is better (WAN to LAN: up to 900Mbps; LAN to LAN: 1Gbps) and what I quite like about the ASUS (RT-N56U) Black Diamond Gaming Router is the Giga Fiber Internet Support that allows you to download a full HD film in about five minutes (if your ISP is up to the task, of course). These speeds are possible due to a two antennae design (for the 2.4 GHz Band) and three antennas (for the 5GHz frequency).

What I don’t like is that for a gaming router there is a particular option that this one lacks in: the option that gives you the chance to prioritize the gaming traffic network over the other traffic networks. That I would have liked, but anyway, the router is very fast, so that developed into a minor annoyance.

Moneymeter

The price of the ASUS (RT-N56U) Black Diamond Gaming Router is around 130 US dollars (price listed on Amazon.com, but it should be similar elsewhere). What you get isprobably one of the best gaming routers that money can buy at the moment. Plus you can connect printers, scanners or storage devices to the router and allow the others in the network to use them (or built a print server on your own). To cap it all, the money value is very good one and the gaming performance is awesome. It’s a must buy!

And this is a video review to help you decide if this router is for you or not:
