Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader: the ‘classic’ eBook reader

Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader: the ‘classic’ eBook reader

By: Alexandra Fistic  In: Accessories and Peripherals  Updated: Jan 25, 2012

Our era is characterized by three words: technology, information and speed! Our customs have adapted to these three words and reading is such an example! Although the content of the book remains the same, its shape will always adapt to the readers needs.

These needs are now related to the accessibility that had to be increased. Being able to read a book anytime, everywhere, without having to go to the library to get it, that is what some of us would call freedom and they would not be wrong at all! Books have become ebooks and machines have been invented in order to use these them. Such an example is the Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader, the classic eReader after only a few years since the first Kindle announcement. Follow closely this article and see if it is a match for your needs!

The Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader has got the advanced E Ink Display, which provides a crystal clear screen, very suitable for extended hours of reading, not to mention that images are equally well displayed, albeit in grayscale. Its reduced dimensions (8.5 ounces and 1/3 of an inch thin) increase very much the portability, so you won’t have any trouble reading anywhere because it fits in your pocket and it doesn’t feel heavy in hand after hours and hours of use.

The storage capacity of the ebook reader is another important detail and this particular one can store up to 3.500 ebooks, which is almost impressive and makes one of the best ebook readers up to now. The battery can last up to two months (considering half an hour as a daily reading time) and Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader also incorporates the Wi-Fi technology that allows the user to download an ebook within sixty seconds. 3G versions are also available, and best of all: you don’t need a 3G contract to download data, as it is included in the price of the eBooks you’re downloading. The actual cost of the data is paid then by Amazon to its partners. It’s the clever way to use 3G, if you ask me.

In terms of performances, there is one thing to be said: the Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader is one of the best ereaders up to now! One of the best things about it is that you can use it as soon as you have taken it out of the box: it doesn’t require any software installation or another thing as such and it can read PDFs as well.

But what if you are not in the mood of reading and you would rather listen? Well, with the Text-to-Speech option, this machine will read it out loud for you. It’s especially useful when driving for example, as you can be safe and still entertain yourself with books.

Another common concern is where do I get the ebooks from? From the internet, the local library or the Kindle applications (which you can use for free for the first two weeks, but subsequent periods may require a fee). Real page numbers have been added to the ebooks, so you can quote without any worries! You can lend books from friends, and all your purchases are store in the cloud on Amazon’s servers, so you don’t have to worry about losing them. Your bookmarks are also in sync on all your Amazon devices (where you’re logged in with the same account).

Moneymeter

The price for the Amazon Kindle Keyboard eReader is listed on Amazon.com at almost 100 US dollars (for 139 bucks you can get the ad-free version, while the 3G versions sell for 139 and 189 $ respectively), but given the modern looks and the latest technology provided I’d say it is worth every penny! Is it the best ereader? Yes, in my opinion!
