A step further for advertisers: ads on landline phones

A step further for advertisers: ads on landline phones

Are you tired of ads? Even if you are it seems that advertisers don’t care, as they always find new ways of getting a pop-up, literally or not, in your face. The newest invention is the landline phone that can display contextual ads. It’s been patented and maybe soon it will show for sale, so hackers, do your job and get us a pop-up blocker.

One of the main advantages of such phones is that advertisements can be targeted very whell, as the location of a landline phone is well known by the service provider, and as it partners with advertisers we can see cheaper phone bills, if we opt for this service, instead of an ad-free subscription.

There’s not much info about how the phone works, but to keep it simple I can tell you that the ads are downloaded from a server, just like an ad-server, and the phone can display full HTML pages (I don’t know if you can browse in a limited fashion, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a method to order pizza directly from the phone, as long as they also got beer cupons).
